Bangla is going to release Ganoshotru on ZEE5, October 31, 2025, which is a brutal, heart-stopping anthology that exposes the dark side of West Bengal. This Bengali documentary drama focuses on courtroom transcripts, shaky witness tapes, and yellowed case files instead of glitzy Hollywood serial killer movies.

There will be five episodes in “Ganoshotru” (public enemies) that combine dramatic punch with icy truths. As Rashid Khan, the Subrat Dutta ruler responsible for the 1993 Bowbazar explosion in Kolkata, versatile powerhouse Subrat Dutta excels.

Imagine this: Alleys in rain-soaked Kolkata, where ambition turns into cruelty. *Ganoshotru* dissects monsters, not glorifies them. One story is directed by Modhura Palit, Samik Roy Choudhury, Srimanta Sengupta, Abhirup Ghosh, and Sayan Dasgupta, who transform actual horrors into tense scenes. This thriller web series focuses on patterns, victim profiles, and evasion techniques.

Subrat Dutta: From Blast Mastermind to Byomkesh Sidekick

Shadows are nothing new to Subrat Dutta in the Ganoshotru crime web series. This Bankura-born NSD alum gave up his MBA aspirations to pursue a career in theater after a 40-day training completely changed his perspective.  Dutta is a master of duality. During the day, Rashid is the amiable bookmaker—backroom dealings, easy smiles. Bomb makers like Khalid were given cold orders.

Subrat refers to it as “hidden brutality,” and he is fixated on authenticity, even down to Rashid’s clipped threats, twitchy chain smoking, and eyes flashing like cornered rodents. Subtlety perfected by NSD shines: Veins popping, spittle flying, just coiled wrath erupting in a fiery courtroom breakdown as police use scorched ledgers and witness scribbles to dismantle his empire.

Plot of Ganoshotru Web Series!

Ganoshotru is a Bengali crime web series that consists of five episodes that delve into West Bengal’s darkest files. Each one combines documentaries with gritty drama to deliver a stand-alone gut punch to a real public enemy.

Episode 1: Troilokya Devi (Paoli Dam) – Kolkata in the twentieth century. A Brahmin widow becomes a murderous queen. Charmingly seduces suckers, then poisons them for jewellery and wealth. From sorrow to criminal—drowns competitors in ponds, enchants police officers. The first female serial killer in India.

Episode 2: Hubba Shyamal (Rudranil Ghosh) is featured in Episode 2. 30+ cases involving narcotics, extortion, and killings. He can flaunt his political shield until his adversaries plan his demise.

Episode 3: Ayush Das’s character Sajal Barui is a cocky youngster. Avoids heat for years and outwits police in the dark.

Episode 4: The Chainman (Debopriyo Mukherjee) in Episode Four Creep is quite meticulous while strangling ladies. Bodies fall, chains rattle—pure ice.

Episode 5: The 1993 Bowbazar bomb plant owned by Satta kingpin Rashid Khan (Subrat Dutta) explodes in the fifth episode. He accidentally set fire to his gambling den’s nitro supply, killing 69 people. Police search for burnt clues to find him.

Ganoshotru Direction: Five Filmmakers, One Unfiltered Series on ZEE5!

Ganoshotru has been directed by five directors, creating living nightmares out of old police files without using a single phoney scream. Just harsh sincerity without a shared style sheet.

  1. Troilokya Devi’s Modhura Palit
  2. Hubba Shyamal’s character, Sami Roy Choudhury
  3. Srimanta Sengupta (Sajal Barui)
  4. Abhirup Ghosh (The Chainman)

Who has played the role of a serial killer (Episode 1) in Ganoshotru?

The first female serial killer in India, Troilokya Devi, is played by Paoli Dam in The Rogues’ Gallery: Bengal’s Nightmares Reborn.  To a vicious extortionist, a Brahmin widow lures men and poisons them for riches. Rudranil Ghosh as Hubba Shyamal: A flamboyant mobster, he escaped the noose by using his political cover.  It is “intriguing and intense,” according to Rudranil.  Expensive outfits, no mercy.

Sajal Barui, played by Ayush Das, is a cocky teenage fugitive who outran police for years.  The Chainman, played by Debopriyo Mukherjee, is a sly and frightening woman-stripping actor.

What Makes Ganoshotru Hits Unique?

Rusa Banerjee of ZEE5 describes it as “our most ambitious Bengali crime original—raw, cinematic.” Subtitles perfectly capture legal jargon, yet Bengali vernacular retains the bite of threats. Just the toll, no hero-cop cliches, no victim-blaming. It explores what breaks a person, from Rashid’s gambling empire collapsing in flames to Troilokya’s widow’s grief turning to murder.

Since its October 31st release, the trailer has got two million views. That is why we highly suggest you watch this documentary series to find what really makes it unique.

Final Verdict!

Ganoshotru is a reflection of Bengal’s wounds, not family stuff. It is elevated by Subrat Dutta, who expertly channels Rashid’s duality. You should launch Zee5 right now and turn down the lights to watch this amazing web series. ZEE5 is currently streaming.
